Outstanding walking food tour with the wonderful Roger.
We booked as part of our Honyemoon tour around SE Asia and it is one of the absolute highlights of our trip so far.
For anyone looking for a fun, informative, tasty tour of Ho Chi Minh’s local street food places, this is the tour for you.
We are not the most adventurous eaters, but Roger was really clear from the start that we could customise things, but that we also didn’t need to finish all 10 dishes.
The tour follows much of the same stops as the motorbike tours, but certain stops change to make it easier on foot.
We preferred this option as we got to do exercise and let the food digest, and walk around the backstreets and lanes, taking photos along the way with our guide rather than drive by them quickly.
Roger is a warm, likeable, fun host with excellent English and he contacted us in advance on Whatsapp which helped.
All in all, we had the most fantastic experience and definitely recommend it to others!
🌟 Unmissable Vietnamese Street Food Tour with Emma!
From start to finish, this tour was a culinary joyride through the soul of Saigon’s street food scene. Led by Emma, our fantastic guide, we explored flavors and tucked-away spots that even lifelong locals might overlook. Her enthusiasm, storytelling, and deep food knowledge made every stop feel special.
🍽️ What made it unforgettable?
Each dish we tasted was a window into Vietnamese culture—from sweet and smoky grilled banana with sticky rice, to delicate steamed rice rolls that melted in our mouths. The vibrant energy of Ho Thi Ky Street was matched by its bold bites: Vietnamese pizza, lemongrass-scented barbecue, grilled beef in betel leaf, paired with icy beer and zingy passion fruit juice.
And the beef stew? Absolute showstopper. Rich, warming, and packed with flavor—it left even our friend, who’s lived here for seven years, speechless. They couldn’t believe they’d never discovered that spot before!
We wrapped up the night with bánh mì so good we considered a second round, savory Vietnamese pancakes, and a trio of desserts that danced between creamy, nutty, and comforting.
But Emma didn’t stop there—she even recommended a tucked-away rooftop cocktail bar where we could continue the evening in style. Sipping drinks under the city lights was the perfect way to wind down after our delicious journey.
Emma made sure we didn’t just eat—we understood, appreciated, and connected. Whether you’re new to Vietnam or think you’ve seen it all, this tour will surprise you in the best ways.
🥢 Come with an appetite. Leave with stories. Five stars for Emma!
This tour was truly amazing, Emma is such a lovely, kind lady who explained everything from what to do and what to expect while also explaining the history and the food. I 💯 recommend this tour to really see how the Vietnamese live and eat. You get to experience a lot of different foods both sweet and savoury. The food was very safe to consume and Emma always ensuring you got around safely and making sure everything is ok..
well organised. Thank you Emma you made this experience so fantastic 👏
This is the best food tour I have been on and would highly recommended it. The food location were chosen with care, great explanation was provided throughout the tour not just on the food but the areas we were walking through. Kelly and Chi were great guides – they had great energy, spoke excellent English and looked after us well. They were considerate & were fun too! We had the best night in HCMH because of them.
Wow wow yum! Best experience ever. Emma and Ted were so friendly made us feel safe and comfortable. Their Communication and organisation prior and during was excellent. They put safety first (taught us how to cross the street ‘sticky rice style’). The tour itself was wonderful. Food quality and variety exceptional (don’t eat before you go, sooo much food). 12/10 stars
